The courses
What courses does Rami's Barber School offer?
Five: Basic Shaving (1 day, $200), Basic Fading (1 day, $300), Basic Shaving and Fading (2 days, $450), Advanced Shaving and Fading (3 days, $600) and the Complete Barber Course (150 hours, $3,500 plus a $600 kit). All prices are plus GST.
Do I need any experience?
No. Four of the five courses start from the beginning. Only Advanced Shaving and Fading is meant for barbers who are already working.
Which course should I start with?
If you want barbering as a career, the Complete Barber Course. If you want to try the trade first, Basic Shaving or Basic Fading each take one day.
Are the courses hands-on?
Yes. Every course is taught on the shop floor in a working barbershop, and you learn each skill by doing it.
How long is the Complete Barber Course?
150 hours, from beginner to advanced.
Cost and kit
How much do the courses cost?
Basic Shaving is $200, Basic Fading is $300, Basic Shaving and Fading is $450, Advanced Shaving and Fading is $600 and the Complete Barber Course is $3,500 plus a $600 kit. Every price is before GST.
Do I need my own tools?
Not for the short courses. Rami provides the tools for Basic Shaving, Basic Fading, Basic Shaving and Fading, and Advanced Shaving and Fading, so you can turn up with nothing. The Complete Barber Course is the exception: you buy your own professional kit for $600.
How much is the kit?
$600 plus GST for a full professional kit. It is required for the Complete Barber Course only.
Is GST included in the prices?
No. Every price shown on this site is before GST, so GST is added on top when you pay.
Why is the kit required on the Complete Barber Course?
Because you train on the tools you will keep using. Over 150 hours you learn on your own clippers and your own razor, so nothing has to be relearned when you start work.
What does the Complete Barber Course fee cover?
The $3,500 covers your enrolment and your tuition, and the apprenticeship at Rami's Cut at the end. The $600 kit is separate, so the full cost is $4,100. Both prices are plus GST.
Do I pay on the website?
No. No payment is taken on this site. You send the registration form or call, and Rami gets back to you about dates and the next step.
The school
Where is Rami's Barber School?
#112-2540 Shaughnessy St, Port Coquitlam, BC. It shares the address with the Port Coquitlam Rami's Cut barbershop.
Who teaches the courses?
Rami, the owner of Rami's Cut. He won Battle of the Barbers in 2013 and 2014 and judged it in 2015.
What is Rami's Cut?
Rami's Cut is Rami's group of three barbershops in Port Coquitlam, Coquitlam and Pitt Meadows. Students on the Complete Barber Course apprentice there.

After the course
What happens after the Complete Barber Course?
The course includes an apprenticeship at Rami's Cut, where you work with real clients in a real barbershop.
Will I work with real clients?
Yes. Students learn to connect with and look after real clients in a real barbershop, and build the quality, speed and accuracy a modern shop expects.
Registering
How do I register?
Send the registration form on the home page or call 604 442 2730. Rami will call or email you back about dates.
When do courses start?
Rami sets dates with you after you register. Send the form or call, and he will tell you what is coming up.
Does sending the form commit me to anything?
No. It tells Rami which course you are interested in and how to reach you. Nothing is charged.
